Yes I got another base product and no I don’t regret it. Everyone and their dog raves about the Tarte Tape Shape Concealer apart from me. As soon as it was released I remember ordering it Boxing Day (one before last) as it was free shipping to the UK. I was super excited and then left disappointed. It just didn’t work for me, I loved the coverage but I found it made my under eyes look a little dry even when I don’t have dry skin. I then saw the new Tarte Creaseless Concealer on Instagram and hadn’t heard much about it but knew I wanted to try it.
The packaging is cute, it comes in a frosted tube with floral and gold detailing. The concealer stood out to me for different reasons but one being the ingredients:
- Maracuja: rich in essential fatty acids & vitamin C for firmer, brighter, smoother skin & maximum hydration
- Vitamin C: antioxidant free radical fighter that helps prevent premature signs of aging, while brightening skin
- Vitamin E: natural preservative that also acts as an emollient and antioxidant
- Mineral pigments: soothe and soften skin
When I first swatched the concealer I was surprised as the formula feels thick but hydrating. It wasn’t what I was expecting especially when they describe it as a creaseless concealer. The first time I put this under my eyes it felt amazing. Even though it initially feels thick it sweeps across under your eyes effortlessly. You get an incredible amount of product on the wand and don’t need to keep dipping back in. You can instantly tell this concealer is more on the dewy side which is something I have really been liking lately.
I either blend this in with my sponge or the Zoeva 142 Concealer Brush. Both blend out the product well and it looks flawless. I was shocked at how much coverage this does provide, it definitely gives full coverage. I often use a corrector first as I like how it makes my concealer sit.
I do suffer with creases under my eyes, no concealer ever hides them completely and they usually get worse throughout the day so of course I was keen to put this creaseless concealer to the test. I blend out one eye at a time and then powder straight away. I don’t tend to bake as I find it can look dry but I do usually use a loose powder but press it into my skin rather then sweeping it across. When I pat this under my eyes with this concealer I did notice my creases weren’t as noticeable as usual. They looked flawless! I had to double look in the mirror as I couldn’t believe just how flawless under my eyes did look.
It is also described as being waterproof, now I can’t vouch for this fully but I can say my eyes do water alot thanks to hayfever and when they have watered alot and run down the outer corner of my eye the concealer hasn’t budged!
I have worn this on numerous occasions with different powders and the result is always the same. Flawless and near enough creaseless. My creases don’t become worse throughout the day and I am very impressed. There are 30 shades, I was going to order the palest shade but it was sold out so I went with the second palest 10B Fair Beige which actually turned out to be perfect. It is slightly pink toned which works best for me and it is pale enough to highlight and conceal with.
Overall I am extremely impressed with this concealer and love it so much more than Shape Tape. Will you be checking the Creaseless Concealer out?
