Did you know that your skin is one of the largest organs of your body? But did you also know that your skin actually absorbs up to 70% of whatever it is you put on it?
Here’s a frightening statistic: We absorb up to 5 pounds of toxic chemicals in our skin every year, and that more than 26% of women use at least 17 products daily that contain carcinogens and harmful ingredients.
This amounts to up to 520 different chemicals in our body daily every single day. And yet, most people completely ignore these statistics. They think there’s no way encountering toxic overload to their bodies could happen to them.
But just ask the number of people who experience signs & symptoms of skin problems and illness from an overabundance of toxins that are all affected by this problem, and they’ll tell you that it can and does happen. And they’ll also tell you the best thing you can do is protect your health.
This statistic got me thinking about the number of toxic chemicals we lather onto our skin every day when it comes to our beauty & personal care products and whether I was actually putting my health at risk by not being more cautious & educated about the ingredients in my creations.
In a 2004 study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, they discovered that 97% of people who participated had been exposed to phthalates, a chemical commonly found in skincare products. This was rather shocking because research has indicated disruptions in the reproductive system of animals in laboratories containing high levels of phthalates.
In addition, the EWG (Environmental Working Group) discovered that a lot of beauty and skincare products sold in North America contained pesticides, carcinogens, surfactants, plasticizers, degreasers, reproductive toxins, and endocrine disruptors, just to name a few which have been banned in Europe and parts of Asia.
That’s what this post is about. In just moments, you’ll discover 11 benefits as to why using natural beauty products is the safer alternative.
You may not know this, but I have lived a holistic and natural lifestyle since 2008. And you’ll even discover the importance of using certain natural ingredients to maintain youthful skin by slowing down the ageing process.
So, without further introduction, let’s jump in with a discussion of the importance of natural skincare and why should you use organic & natural beauty products?
Why organic cosmetics and skincare?
There are two primary reasons: Organic beauty & personal care products work better and are healthier. It’s that simple! Consumers are subjected to information from false advertising trying to convince people that their synthetic formulas will provide unique benefits for their skin.
Many smaller companies are formulating and manufacturing organic and natural beauty products. Still, they may not necessarily have the advertising budget to gain household recognition. However, the quality and performance of their products make it worthwhile to search for. If you’re choosing to pursue a healthier lifestyle, choosing organic beauty products is a priority.
When you choose organic beauty products, particularly skincare, you’re making a choice to use products with ingredients that contain natural particles that can work for your skin very well.
Given that organic skincare products contain the correct type of nutrients, your skin can care for itself. Not only do our bodies absorb the nutrients from the foods that we eat, but also through our skin.
What you lather onto your skin absorbs into your bloodstream and is carried throughout your body. People are far more critical about what they put in their bodies than what they put on them. You’ve heard about the benefits of eating an organic, healthy diet. Yet, it makes you question the effects and consequences of all the chemicals in beauty products that you’re slathering on your skin.
So, what about the benefits of using organic skincare? Use skin care products made of ingredients naturally derived from plants, herbs, and fruit. These ingredients are grown without synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides to receive organic certification.
Monitoring and not altering these ingredients are the best way to maintain the production process without additives. Specific components are then used for a particular product using any natural preservatives to keep the product’s longer shelf-life.
There are several benefits to using organic cosmetics and skincare. Still, most importantly, they’re less abrasive towards your health and effectively achieve great results.
Natural Beauty Products Contain Rich Nutrients for Long-Term Results
Did you know that women apply more than 15 makeup and beauty products to their faces every day? This means that almost 7 pounds of makeup get absorbed into your skin every single year. Even if you’re using moisturizer and serum as a barrier to protect your skin, particles from your makeup can still absorb through. These toxic chemicals can cause damage to your body.
If you read the ingredients list on makeup products, you’ll see nothing organic about this. Here’s the rule: if you can’t eat it, then why would you want to wear it? Especially if you have sensitive skin, most of your makeup products that contain harsh chemicals are harmful to you.
That’s why it’s essential to choose organic makeup if you have sensitive skin only because it will be less irritating. If you’re using products with high concentrations of antioxidants and natural ingredients, your overall complexion will naturally improve over time.
There are benefits to using organic makeup that is made with nutrients. Botanical ingredients would include rosehip seed, tea tree oil, green tea extract, lavender, etc. Elements like these protect and soothe your skin. Many women who use cosmetics layer their faces with an endless list of products.
Here’s a misconception: Plant-based ingredients were always negatively rated as ineffective than their lab-based formulations.
Plant extracts are more potent than you think. Technology is constantly changing & improving. New and innovative processes can extract plant-based ingredients to find and formulate organic beauty products and eliminate the traditional formulas of developing and manufacturing cosmetics.
The beauty industry faces a problem because there are few government regulations on what exactly goes into our daily products.
The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) responsibility is to regulate the standards of food and drugs. But when it comes to beauty products, the FDA isn’t as diligent if it pays no attention to what goes into our beauty products.
Regulations are few and far between, and companies use several outlets to get away with this for some in place.
Meaning that companies can put whatever they want in your products without caring whether or not it is safe for your wellbeing and good for your skin. This includes toxic chemicals, additives, irritants, fillers, and synthetic preservatives.
Now imagine how many toxic chemicals have been absorbed into your skin every day? Some women wake up to several acne outbreaks the next day, and we wonder why our skin has reacted this way. This is not a shocker considering that many of these beauty products are not only dangerous for your skin but can also cause harm and irritation to your health and body.
Allergies are also a common problem among people who have bad reactions, including rashes, redness, and breakouts due to certain ingredients.
Our bodies will send us clear indications when we’re mistreating our skin. Always be aware of the sensitivities that your body is signalling to you. That way, you can learn and read the potential warning signs before your skin gets worse.
Chemical-based skincare products are often abrasive towards the skin, which strip away your natural oils from your skin and accelerate the ageing process, causing an increase in skin sensitivity and uneven skin tone, including hyperpigmentation, redness and eczema.
You don’t want to spend your day wearing makeup on your skin that really has no benefits. It’s kind of disturbing knowing that toxic makeup will make you look beautiful, and yet it’s so dangerous to your health.
If you’re looking for long-term results, then eliminating toxic chemicals from your beauty routine, your skin will begin to respond to the natural ingredients you are delivering. However, if you’re using natural beauty products, then you’ll never have to be concerned about these toxic ingredients.
The ingredients in organic products contain vitamins & antioxidants, including plant and fruit extracts which helps support the skin’s elasticity and nourish your skin from the inside out.
Studies and research have shown that these ingredients repair and rejuvenate your skin, making your skin maintain its youthful, natural glow. A great benefit of using organic makeup is that you won’t need to be concerned about skin reactions or acne breakouts.
Clean beauty products rich in nutrients contain antioxidants for complete skin nourishment and complete renewal for naturally glowing skin. This won’t strip away the natural oils of your skin even without the use of synthetic chemicals in natural products.
Natural ingredients, including Vitamin A and Vitamin E, are rich in antioxidants, fatty acids, and other beneficial nutrients. Elements like this help repair your skin’s barrier and moisturize your skin, providing you with a radiant, fresh appearance.
Your skin’s elasticity is much more firm. Not only that, but phytonutrients are also very beneficial if you have mature, dry skin. Your skin’s reaction to natural ingredients will offer immediate, long-term results reducing any pigmentation discolouration, redness, inflammation, dryness, and wrinkles to generate smoother skin.
Suppose you’re using products that contain harsh chemicals. In that case, your skin may look bright with a nice glow for a few weeks. Still, in the long run, synthetic ingredients may cause an increase in sensitivity, breakouts, and irritation.
What’s so great about natural products is that they’re gentle on your skin without the use of toxic ingredients. Not only do they improve your overall complexion, but they smell good, all because of the natural fruit and plant extracts that they contain.
When choosing organic products, you’re using ingredients that work in relationship with your body, allowing your skin to rejuvenate and repair itself.
For overall effectiveness, natural and organic skincare products or just beauty products supplied by natural sources have been effective for a long time. This is all the skin needs to remain healthy.
Anti-Ageing
Here’s the reality – A lot of cosmetics companies add certain ingredients in products, including serums, moisturizers, lip balms, and eye creams that can actually dry out your skin and accelerate the ageing process, which instead should be doing the opposite (which is why you’re using skincare products, to begin with).
If you want a skincare product that does justice for your skin, you may want to avoid products that contain toxic ingredients.
But can you really have flawless skin? The answer is yes, you can. But before you start using any sort of skincare product, you need to check the ingredients on the package carefully so that you can avoid any severe side effects.
I would advise you to try out some samples and test a small area on your skin to see if your skin may have a reaction. There are a lot of clean beauty brands that offer skincare samples for you to purchase.
So how can you prevent your skin from ageing? Natural & organic skincare is far more effective against the acceleration of ageing on the skin. Organic products offer excellent results to heal & restore damaged skin cells to prevent hyperpigmentation and fight against the signs of wrinkles, fine lines, rosacea, crow’s feet, and future acne breakouts.
The ingredients formulated and used in natural cosmetics and skincare allow your skin to heal itself and strengthen its elasticity. The bottom line is that organic products can decrease the accelerating ageing process.
But what about makeup? Well, did you know that healthier makeup can actually provide your skin with the nutrients it needs to fight against the ageing process? If you’re going to be wearing makeup on your face every day, then it should work for you rather than against you.
Organic makeup doesn’t contain toxic chemicals and additives as opposed to conventional makeup, which can speed up ageing. These toxins are absorbed into your skin and can clog your pores, causing your skin to look dull and unhealthy.
Natural mineral foundations are a great choice if you have sensitive skin and can help calm any skin conditions you may have. In contrast, other makeup containing toxic ingredients might worsen your skin conditions, including acne and rosacea.
Organic makeup also contains natural ingredients derived from fruits and plants that can help boost collagen in your skin to keep your skin’s elasticity tight and firm. Most natural makeup is made from minerals that provide sun protection by fighting against UV rays.
Sun damage is one of the primary responsibilities for 60% ageing on your face. If you’re using makeup that naturally protects against UV rays, this helps reverse signs of ageing. The toxic chemicals found in conventional beauty products can actually cause you to age faster than protecting your skin from ageing.
The problem with this is that it will strip your skin’s natural oils and cause skin dryness or discolouration, depending on the type of makeup you’re using.
Avoiding Toxic Chemicals
Many ingredients that are commonly used in beauty products can potentially be harmful to your health, which is why you should reconsider the types of products you’re using without risking your own wellbeing.
There are a ton of chemicals used in conventional beauty products that are incredibly harmful to your body. The beauty industry doesn’t have strict regulations regarding the labelling of ingredients. In fact, many beauty brands aren’t required to test any of their ingredients for safety.
They’ll try their products on animals considered animal cruelty if they do.
Suppose there are synthetic substances and chemicals in your products. In that case, they can seep into your bloodstream and cause severe harm over the long term, which can impose a significant hazard on the internal organs of your body.
If using organic & natural products, there’s a much smaller chance that such harm will have an effect on your organs. Exposure to chemicals can also cause the body to imbalanced hormones. Certain chemicals will act like estrogen in your bloodstream, causing menstrual changes in women.
Natural beauty products are free from pesticides and fertilizers, which are dangerous and toxic to your skin.
The following toxins are ingredients you should avoid in any products:
- Phthalates
- Isopropyl Alcohol
- Synthetic Fragrances
- Formaldehyde
- Sodium Lauryl (Laureth) Sulfate
- Diethanolamine (DEA)
- Monoethanolamine (MEA)
- Ureas (Imidazolidinyl, Diazolidinyl, DMDM)
- Triethanolamine (TEA)
- Parabens (This includes: Propyl, Butyl, Ethyl, and Methyl)
One toxin that should be a particular concern is parabens. Although artificial preservatives like parabens may provide a solution for a product to have a longer-lasting shelf-life, side effects are still being unveiled.
Parabens are used in conventional beauty products and act as an artificial preservatives to extend the shelf life of makeup, skincare, and hair care products. Research has indicated that parabens can mimic your body’s hormones, including oestrogen.
Altering the body’s endocrine system, including having too much oestrogen, can increase the risk of getting breast cancer and affect the body’s reproductive organs. Parabens can seep into the skin and find their way into the breast tissue.
Most cosmetics and skin care products contain parabens. Parabens have been a contributing factor to cause cancer and hormone disruption.
Phthalates are another toxin that can be found in makeup. Exposure to phthalates can cause reproductive challenges and neurological damage to the brain. Phthalates can also contribute to a decrease in testosterone and result in premature babies.
The rates of illness and health problems continue to rise. It’s no surprise that if the human body is exposed to so many chemicals over some time, illnesses can start to form and take over your body.
You must eliminate or reduce your exposure to synthetic ingredients. It’s cheaper for companies to purchase synthetic, toxic substances than natural, organic ingredients, including food-grade nutrients or plant extracts.
There is no need for companies to place synthetics in their products, particularly skincare items. These ingredients are fast active and invasive to the human body. You may think that you’re
feeling fabulous, but in actuality, they can cause harm that we can’t see.
Exposure to these ingredients can cause cancer, hormone disruption, skin allergies, irritation, and headaches. Why would you want to put your health at risk and face the possibility of life-threatening illnesses? These companies only care about generating profit.
The cheaper the ingredients are, the easier it is to formulate, manufacture and advertise these products. Also, many conventional products will provide you instant satisfaction with skincare results.
Many brands advertise and promote their products using the word “natural”, but in actuality, they contain many toxic ingredients. This is called greenwashing. So please, always check the ingredients on the package and be cautious of what you’re putting on your skin.
Companies market these products to promote a straightforward job to help you with an aesthetic purpose: less visible wrinkles and acne elimination.
But there’s always a price to pay: premature ageing and an increase in the risk of sunspots. We buy products to eliminate those problems, yet what’s contained in these products is the reverse of that.
There is no such thing as quick fixes for your skin. We indeed can have that beautiful, youthful skin we all desire. For us, our skincare is the one thing within our control. It really comes down to making the right choice.
Natural beauty products use ingredients and natural preservatives such as Vitamin E, grapefruit seed extract, and lavender as examples that won’t harm your body. Suppose you’re using natural skincare products. In that case, your skin will maintain its elasticity and give you a natural, refreshing, healthy glow.
Products that provide health benefits and a natural glow that we all desire are within our reach. Organic makeup and skincare brands use organic ingredients formulated, tested, and certified to meet specific standards.
This gives you confirmation knowing that the beauty products you’re using are safe and will not cause harm when used daily.
No Synthetic Fragrances in Natural Beauty Products
This is one of the most shocking and scariest alternatives that brands have to use to help them formulate their beauty products with god knows how many toxic chemicals there are.
What’s wrong with using fragrances? Who wouldn’t want your products to smell nice and, in turn, help you smell nice, right? Sure, but the term fragrance doesn’t automatically mean that it will help to make your products smell better.
Many companies will place chemical fragrances into their beauty products to make them smell nice. Some people are highly sensitive or allergic to these scents and tend to get headaches when they wear scented makeup on their face, let alone actual perfume.
The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) states that a company does not have to release the ingredients in their fragrances because they are considered trade secrets.
The reason being is that they don’t want another company to be able to steal a product’s exact scent if that is their primary selling factor. Fine, understandable. However, it’s how companies use this that causes a significant issue.
A trade secret allows companies to put whatever they want into a product and call it part of its fragrance.
What’s most disturbing about this is that they never have to divulge what’s contained in the actual product. Therefore if it’s not listed on their website nor on the ingredients list labelled on the package, this means the consumer will never know.
We have no idea how many toxic chemicals have formed a fragrance and what those components are. Chances are, most of those ingredients could be very dangerous to our health, including allergies. Yet, companies don’t have to alert you or give you any warning signs or symptoms they could cause.
Allergies or not, these chemicals are unhealthy for anyone. You’d be surprised at how many people suffer from adverse side effects, including headaches, migraines, and nasal congestion, due to the artificial fragrances contained in perfumes, skincare products, body lotions, and makeup.
Conventional products contain toxic chemicals, including phthalates, to artificially invigorate the smell of beauty products.
Organic products are devoid of any toxic smells. In fact, natural products generally have a naturally pleasing and refreshing fragrance. They are sometimes scented with natural & essential oils such as lavender, eucalyptus or rosemary. If choosing organic makeup, these scents are made from natural ingredients.
Many of these fragrances are made from essential oils such as lavender, vanilla, grapefruit, and much more. Chemicals placed into conventional makeup can cause severe health complications, including allergies, birth defects, and endocrine disruptors to the body.
These fragrances have been proven to contain carcinogens. Not only are toxic scents harmful to your body, most of the time, but these scents can also be unbearable. Natural fragrances are more pleasant than harsh, overwhelming scents from unnatural products.
If using organic & natural products terminates the problem. The most relieving thing about these products is that they don’t contain harmful fragrance particles that could end up being detrimental to your health. Instead, you’ll know exactly what you’re paying for and what’s going on in your skin.
No Skin Irritation
Women who experience skin irritation are known to have symptoms including a burning sensation, redness, rashes, problems in pigmentation & uneven skin tone, and acne breakouts which, you guessed it, are caused by harmful toxic chemicals contained in skincare and makeup products.
If you have susceptible skin, you might want to avoid chemical-based beauty products at all costs. Without any harmful ingredients, dyes or by-products, they are less likely to cause any sort of skin irritation.
Natural skin care products and even makeup can act as a gentle aid towards your skin to prevent the chance of your skin breaking out into acne. Natural ingredients such as coconut oil and jojoba oil can soothe irritated skin.
Your Skin Will Clear Up And Heal Any Skin Damage
Everyone’s skin is different. So depending on a person’s immune system and the type of products they use, whatever skin problems you may have, organic & natural skincare products will make a huge difference. Only because you’re not slathering chemicals on the surface of your skin.
Adding toxins to your body makes things worse. However, if you’re applying natural properties to your skin, your body will react better. And they say that natural ingredients such as tea tree oil, aloe vera, rosehip seed oil, etc., are all healing properties to the skin.
If you’re constantly having breakouts on your skin from the makeup you’re using, well, there’s a good reason. I used to have bad acne breakouts from the different types of toxic makeup foundation I was using to cover up my skin, from Chanel to Lancôme, Mac Cosmetics, etc.
It wasn’t until I realised that the ingredients in these foundations were exasperating my acne, which caused my skin to worsen. When I eliminated those products and began using natural foundations, my acne cleared up within a month.
Also, many things can damage your skin, including exposure to toxic chemicals, the sun, smoking, alcohol consumption, and an unhealthy diet which are just a few examples of skin damage.
The antioxidants in natural products provide healing properties that can have a healing effect on the skin, leaving your skin to look healthier and clearer. One example would be aloe vera which is known to heal skin burns, reduce redness and even mosquito bites to help reduce pain, swelling, and itching.
Protect Our Unborn Children
Did you know that babies in the womb absorb what we put on our skin? Many toxic ingredients found in our daily beauty products have been linked to birth defects.
A study screening for more than 400 chemicals indicated that 286 toxins were detected within the umbilical cord blood of newborns. Of these 286 toxins, 218 were neurotoxins, and 209 damaged growth development or caused birth defects.
It’s terrifying to think that most people, after many decades, have been brainwashed into thinking that your beauty products are okay to use. Still, in actuality, it’s nothing more than for these companies to produce and manufacture mass, cheaply made products to make higher profit margins.
Pregnant women will experience high levels of phthalates found in makeup, shampoos, nail polishes, and fragrances and have a higher risk of having children with behavioural disorders.
Toxins, including BPAs and synthetic fragrances, are also found in makeup, skincare, and personal care products. When using organic cosmetics, skincare and personal care, you’re choosing to protect the wellbeing of children and future generations.
Environmentally and Eco-Friendly
Did you know that conventional products made and produced with toxic ingredients can harm our environment?
These conventional beauty products are formulated with pesticides and other dangerous chemicals cropped. The manufacturing of chemical-latent beauty and personal care products places those chemicals into our water and air supply, and what’s worse is that it goes down the drain in your own home.
The farmed ingredients manufactured in organic beauty & health products have fewer toxins in the air and our water systems.
Many of the beauty products we use daily contain petrochemicals. You’re choosing to take good care of your skin when choosing organic makeup and skincare. Still, you’re also choosing to be kind to animals and the environment.
Even products like hair care such as shampoo, body wash and other beauty care products contain sulfates, foaming and cleansing agents. Sulfates are produced from petroleum, a pollutant that affects the air we breathe and our environment.
Sulfates can have harmful toxic effects on our oceans, including sea animals. Still, they also make their way into our rivers from products that we use daily from what’s being washed down our drains.
Overall, conventional based beauty products use toxic chemicals that harm the environment negatively. Using natural products, they are eco-friendly and are not harmful to the environment.
The ingredients made and processed from farms are chemical-free, which helps support a healthier planet. Many organic beauty products on the market are not tested on animals and are firmly against animal testing. Just to make sure, you can always check by reading the labels on the product.
Makeup that isn’t formulated naturally can put a burden on our resources. Most beauty products use petroleum-based ingredients and other unnatural chemical composites like aluminium, lead, coal tar, and more. To collect these resources, they are mined a lot of the time.
Did you know that mining is done in places such as the Amazon rainforest? Our forests are becoming endangered as the demand for these resources grows.
If you’re purchasing cosmetics produced from natural ingredients, this is actually helping our environment and ecosystems. Cosmetics laced with mass-produced chemicals have a harsh effect on the environment.
Even some notable brands and packaging are not made from environmentally friendly materials. If you’re choosing a beauty product, make sure to see what the package is made out of. Some products are made from recycled goods.
Organic beauty products are better for the environment because organic farming can eliminate synthetic fertilizers and toxic chemicals. Chemicals and fertilizers can harm our health, soil and water.
This domino effect takes the lives of our plants, animals, and us as a society. People aren’t just harming themselves but breaking the planet we live on without knowing it.
Organically grown plants don’t contain GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms). This may cause a potential threat to both the environment and people. If you’re looking to protect your own health, you’re also helping to preserve our ecosystem.
Organic products are not only good for your skin, but they’re better for the environment. Brands grow and produce organic ingredients using renewable practices. When you have products that don’t contain toxic chemicals, there is less waste and toxins in drainage pipes dumped into our rivers and oceans.
That’s why switching to toxin-free products can make a huge difference, not only for your skin and inner health but for the environment. This will be an essential step to protect our planet and animals in the future.
Cruelty-Free
Beauty products are tested on animals causing harm and suffering to innocent creatures. Even if the whole product itself isn’t tested on animals, the ingredients these products contain are somewhat tested on various animals and can cause discomfort, pain, and agony towards these vulnerable creatures.
Did you know that the Australian government banned animal testing for cosmetics back in 2019? Just a side note, this ban is only applicable to new products and not those already available in stores.
Also, suppose any ingredients are used for other purposes, including cosmetics. In that case, those ingredients will still be allowed to be tested on animals. This means that some of the elements contained in chemical-based skincare products could still be tested on animals.
The only way to be sure that you’re using cruelty-free products is to find products that not only contain organic & natural ingredients but have a ‘cruelty-free logo’ on the package. And if you’re not sure what to look for in terms of logos and labels, I cover that in much greater detail.
If You’re On A Budget
People who choose organic beauty products over conventional products, including drugstore and department store brands, will undoubtedly love this switch, considering they are of good quality with the value and cost of the product itself.
Natural beauty products can cost a few dollars up to a hundred dollars depending on the product and/or brand. Suppose you plan on purchasing luxurious products in the organic and natural departments. In that case, you can definitely spend much less on organic products, even if you are on a tight budget.
One important thing to note is that not all organic products are expensive. This is a total misconception when shopping in the organic section. There are a lot of affordable natural products on the market that you can purchase.
In fact, beauty products that you would buy at a department or drugstore are just as expensive, if not the equivalent in terms of cost and quality to natural & organic products.
There’s really not much price difference when you examine the cost of conventional vs organic beauty products. You may have previously purchased high-end luxury cosmetics such as MAC or Makeup Forever, which so many women buy from, and most of those products aren’t cheap.
Natural products have a combination of effective ingredients which means that they can carry out long-term compared to other products. In other words, this means that you will only need less product to achieve the results that you want, meaning that the product will last longer and will save you money.
If you minimize your product consumption, some of the pricier products won’t really matter only because you’ll know what it is that you really need to buy, which means you’ll end up saving more money.
I’d recommend that it’s better to purchase, for example, a lead-free and vegan lipstick for a similar price, but understand that you’re not applying any dangerous substances on or into your body. Understand that an organic beauty product’s price is determined by several factors, such as high-quality organic ingredients grown and produced before being manufactured.
There will always be a specific price point and/or budget for everyone when choosing and investing in organic beauty products. But remember this, you get what you pay for when it comes to quality over quantity, including using toxic-free products and less damaging to your health.
Another way to save money is to purchase multi-purpose, natural beauty products. As an example, if a product offers the ability to be used as lipstick, cream blush and perhaps a cream eyeshadow, then that right there will save you money on just three products alone combined into one.
And don’t forget that not only will this bring you outstanding results even when it comes to your health, because at the end of the day your health is the most important thing you have and what is the actual cost of that? So, don’t hold off switching to natural products because they indeed are worth the price.
Living a Holistic and Healthy Lifestyle
And finally, the most significant benefit of using natural beauty products has healthy, balanced skin. Many people forget that your skin is the largest organ of your body. When you think about it, your skin goes through a lot daily.
Most people understand that living a healthier lifestyle will provide good health and longevity. We as a society try to look after our bodies by watching what we eat (diet), exercising regularly and getting sufficient sleep while living an active lifestyle.
But many people forget that taking care of our internal health may still not be enough. Our skin is one of the most important organs to look after while living a holistic lifestyle. Just as we watch our diets and our food, we also need to consider what we apply to our skin every day.
Applying chemicals in beauty products to your skin increases your risk of toxic particles damaging your skin cells and making their way into your bloodstream, causing bodily harm with the risk of developing major health problems towards your vital organs over a long period.
Many of these chemicals in cosmetics and skincare products can lead to acne breakouts, skin irritation, and even the skin’s barrier function deterioration. Your skin is like a great giant sponge that absorbs everything, whether it’s good or bad. It’s essential to understand how your skin functions.
When you use body lotions, facial creams, makeup, and other beauty products that contain dangerous toxic chemicals, what makes this a bit terrifying is that a lot of those chemicals that are commonly formulated into your beauty products haven’t been tested.
You’re basically putting yourself at risk of not knowing whether or not they may potentially cause serious health problems.
Typically a conventional beauty product contains hundreds of toxic chemicals, not one or two. All of those toxins absorbing into your skin will directly make their way into your bloodstream and enter through your organs.
Think about this, you wouldn’t be eating something if you knew it contained toxic chemicals, so why on earth would you take the risk of slathering it on your skin? If it’s not safe to use on the inside of your body, then it certainly isn’t safe on your skin either. That’s why it’s crucial to use beauty products with all-natural ingredients.
You can find non-toxic products as an alternative that are similar in shade and texture to the products you’re currently using. Set high standards for yourself and find organic products that lead you to live a safe yet highly effective natural lifestyle.
Organic beauty products are safer and better for your overall health. Many conventional beauty products, mainly skincare, contain chemicals that disrupt the endocrine system in your body. These chemicals include parabens, phthalates, and sodium lauryl sulfate, found in all hair care products.
These carcinogens constitute a significant culprit for your immune, endocrine and reproductive system. The more products you use over time, the higher the concentrations of toxins will enter and accumulate in your body, causing severe bodily harm.
Toxic chemicals in your everyday beauty & personal care products get absorbed into your skin. They can have severe effects on your immune system, organs and your overall wellbeing. It’s time to make the switch!
You don’t ever have to worry about what’s going on your skin and what it might do to your inner health if you know you’re using natural and organic products.

Benefits of Using Natural Products FAQ?
Maybe you’re looking for a way to switch to natural beauty products and aren’t really familiar with clean beauty. Or, perhaps you’re already buying and using cruelty-free products that don’t test on animals and are wondering how you, too, can benefit from using natural beauty products.
Below are some of the most commonly asked clean beauty questions for beginners.

Why is it essential to use natural products?
For one thing, you’ll have less concern over the side effects. Conventional beauty & personal care products contain parabens and preservatives.
These synthetic ingredients imitate your body’s hormones and are endocrine disruptors. Not only that, but other health concerns include different types of cancers, birth defects, infertility, skin allergies, and reproductive problems if you continue to use your everyday conventional products over a long period.
If you’re using natural products, natural ingredients won’t cause concern about harming your body. Natural products are also environmentally friendly. Not only does conventional products add toxic chemicals to your skin and body, but they also harm our environment, causing toxins to be released into the air during the formulation & manufacturing process.
After these chemicals are used, they’re dumped into our drainage systems which then enters into our rivers and oceans, having a horrible impact on our wildlife.
Why are natural products more effective?
Natural products are time tested with proven results. Think about it. What were people using back in the old days of ancient times to enhance their beauty when there was no such thing as these so-called products to amplify and beautify your skin for a youthful glow?
Many ingredients found in organic skincare products that have found their place in modern times were developed from ancient recipes that have been used for centuries due to their unique benefits for the skin.
Ingredients such as myrrh oil and frankincense are just examples of ancient Egyptians’ use back then. These ingredients have stood the test of time, guaranteeing healthy, youthful-looking skin.
Why use natural products on your skin?
When using natural ingredients, they’re often gentler on your skin. Conventional products, mainly skincare, use fillers, which by the way, are not necessary. This can irritate your skin and hair and may cause damage in the long term.
You’ll end up with healthier skin in the end if you’re using safe, natural products. Also, if you have sensitive skin, your skin will respond much better to natural ingredients. Products that contain chemicals will cause your skin to either feel a burning or itchy sensation which is an unpleasant feeling caused by toxic carcinogens.
There’s a reason why your skin and body reject these products containing such harmful ingredients. Natural products are less abrasive and more calming, healing, and soothing towards your skin.
Organic skincare products are like food for your skin. Your skin is very absorbent. When you use cleansers, toners, serums, and moisturizers, they get absorbed into your body through your skin. It’s essential to look at the ingredients list on the product’s label and read through the next time you go shopping.
Toxic chemicals can have some harmful implications for your body. On the other hand, natural products that contain plant and flower extracts nourish your skin and are great for keeping the skin’s elasticity firm, smooth, soft, and minimizing wrinkles.
Why are natural ingredients good for your skin?
Natural ingredients enhance and heal your skin. Natural ingredients like Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Green Tea Extract, and Hyaluronic Acid are absorbed into your skin, increasing collagen production and improving oxygen and blood flow towards the skin while repairing your skin from free radicals damage.
As a result, you’ll see a massive difference in your appearance, including fewer wrinkles, fine lines, and much firmer-looking skin.
Vitamin C
As we age and get older, our collagen production slows down. If you’re using specific vitamins such as Vitamin C, this helps produce collagen in our skin. Products that contain Vitamin C helps your skin to appear firmer, smoother, and with minimal wrinkles. Vitamin C also helps in preventing acne and eliminates inflammation.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E overrides free radicals, protecting UV rays from the sun. Suppose you’re using products that contain Vitamin E. In that case, this vitamin helps your skin maintain and absorb its own moisture, helps regenerate the cells in your skin and body, and improves collagen production by treating any wrinkles.
Beta Carotene (Vitamin A)
Vitamin A helps to protect your skin from sun damage. If you’re using any skincare products that contain Vitamin A or beta carotene, this provides your skin with antioxidants. This can benefit your skin if you have hyperpigmentation and melasma.
Green Tea Extract
As a beverage, green tea extract provides antioxidants for your skin. If you apply topically, green tea extract offers anti-inflammatory benefits, including reversing and preventing sun damage to your skin, as well as fighting against free radicals by slowing down the ageing process.
Looking to Switch to Natural and Organic Beauty Products?
Petit Vour: Taking clean beauty one step further with the ‘Beauty Box.’
There’s no denying that organic makeup and skincare products are better for your skin and overall health. But how do you go about choosing which products are suitable for you? It’s time to say goodbye to those nasty chemicals and mystery products.
When I started buying and wearing organic & natural cosmetics about 10 to 15 years ago, the green beauty industry wasn’t as big and oppressive as it is today without the number of options to choose from.
The available options were very limiting as far as the number of products and shades you could choose, plus how many organic beauty brands were available to purchase from, whether in-store or online.
As an example, I had spent a lot of time just to find the proper foundation for my skin type or even the correct foundation shade that would closely match my exact skin tone. Plus, very few green beauty companies offered samples for you to purchase, even at a meagre cost.
As the years went on and over some time, I slowly discovered more & more brands were beginning to emerge throughout the clean beauty industry. The vast selection of products to choose from, never mind the endless shades that were becoming available, made me feel overwhelmed.
If you can relate, shopping for beauty products is like being a kid in a candy store. You want to buy just about every beauty product on the shelf. And for some women, having the money to purchase products can be a bit tricky, especially if you’re on a tight budget and/or a limited income.
Having a fear of missing out or perhaps having limited funds to purchase almost every beauty product can feel disappointing at times based on the expense of the development.
To make this even more of a challenge, if you’re new to green beauty and you’re confused or not sure where to even remotely begin, my guess is you’re probably wondering where do I even start, where do I buy, and what kinds of products should I buy to get started?
This includes your makeup & skincare and your body care and hair care products. This can feel overwhelming for some women who simply want an easy transition. Like I mentioned earlier, you’ll want to start off slowly by replacing your products one at a time. Once one product goes empty, you should replace that product with an organic product.
This certainly takes the overwhelm off your back and causes less stress and uncertainty when making a transition and lifestyle change as to where and how you shop.
But what if you could experience an array of various beauty products to choose from for all your beauty needs on a month-to-month basis with a simple package dropped at your doorstep? Yes, you heard that right.

This would have introduced me to different brands to try other product types without wasting a ton of money. This will introduce you to an assortment of product types and other clean beauty brands to give you a better idea of what brands and products you’ll like and what you won’t like.
For some women who perhaps may be on a budget, not only will you find that this is an affordable decision from a financial perspective, but that you’re actually getting your dollars’ worth.
For example, suppose you calculate 4 products per month and end up paying for a 1-year subscription. In that case, that’s a total of 48 brand new non-toxic beauty products that you will have collected. This takes the stress off your back with the simplicity of trying new products.
Another benefit to using a beauty box on a month-to-month basis is that if you review the items from that month’s box, you can earn up to 400 Petit Vour points ($4) each month. Issues are considered ‘free money’ (in-store credit) if you shop at petitivour.com. You’re more than welcome to either save or spend your points.

You’ll then create a personalized beauty profile catered to your specific skincare, makeup, and hair care needs by choosing a selection of options for each question regarding your skin & hair type, skin tone, eyebrow colour, preferred lip colour preference, etc.
Once you complete your profile, your first beauty box will be shipped off and mailed to your address. It’s that simple!
Final Thoughts On Using Natural Beauty Products
To Recap: You just learned the 11 benefits of using natural products by avoiding toxic ingredients in your everyday beauty products that you use daily in your beauty routine.
The whole point of this blog post was to educate and inform you on the harmful effects of using conventional beauty & personal care products with your organs and immune system and how skincare products from major brands such as L’Oréal, Aveeno, Clinique, etc. can accelerate the ageing process in your skin.
Indeed, you started out thinking there’s no way encountering toxic overload could happen to my body. I hope by now that you’ve come to realize that everyone is exposed to toxic chemicals every single day, including the products you’re using every morning and night.
I don’t necessarily expect you to make a 180-degree shift from your conventional products to clean beauty. Instead, it would be helpful if you just take one or two steps at a time to make the transition to using natural beauty products. You may also want to start reading the ingredients on the package the next time you go shopping.
What you’ve learned so far will give you a great head start using organic & natural beauty products. However, when you’re ready to take the next step and start shopping for clean beauty products, then you’ll need to avoid products that contain certain toxic ingredients that I’ve listed earlier above.
That’s where this next blog post comes in. This post will not only reveal the shocking truth. Still, it will show you exactly how to easily switch to organic cosmetics so that you can seamlessly make the transition without being stressed or overwhelmed. Ready for that next step?
Let me reiterate this last point, simply because it’s so important:
Toxic chemicals found in your everyday beauty products get absorbed into your skin. They can have severe effects on your immune system, organs and your overall wellbeing. It’s time to make the switch!
What’s more, if worrying about the types of chemicals in your products, organic products are instead formulated with ingredients that have been researched and tested to be safe and suitable for your skin.
