Now here is Summer in a palette! Huda Beauty Coral Obsessions Palette is definitely a stunning palette. Huda Beauty is a brand I have been wanting to try for some time but nothing really stood out to me (apart from the Faux Filter Foundation, still on my wishlist). I had seen her original smaller eye shadow palettes but these shades didn’t excite me as they weren’t unique. Then on Instagram I saw a preview of this coral palette and knew straight away I needed it. The shades looked unique and perfect for the Summer months.
The eyeshadow palette comes in a small compact with nine eyeshadows including seven mattes and two shimmers plus a good size mirror. I have to admit when the palette arrived I was shocked how small it was but the eyeshadows are actually good sizes, it is just the packaging that is small. I think we are so used to brands bulking out packaging when it isn’t needed. The size of this palette makes it perfect for travelling with. It is cardboard which makes it lightweight too. Even though it is cardboard it doesn’t feel cheap, on the front it has a holographic image of the shadows.
Moving onto the shades, this is what drew me in and made me splash the cash as soon as it launched. You get a mixture of peaches, pinks, yellows, oranges and a darker burnt orange. At first the shades might look a little bright and out there but trust me you can create some really subtle looks or a more intense look. The two shimmers/foiled shadows are stunning. At first when I swatched them I thought hmm ok not the best. When using them I use a flat eye brush, I noticed that when I took away the very thin top layer the foiled shades became so much more intense and pigmented. You can either apply them with your finger or a flat brush, both work really well.
The matte shades are intensely pigmented but just enough so you can blend them like a dream. If you want a more subtle look apply them with a light hand and it does reduce the pigmentation. I usually go all in as I find these shadows too pretty not to use to their full potential. Each shade blends just as good as the next. I often find in 90% of eyeshadow palettes there is usually a shade which is a let down but nope Huda has done good, not one disappointing shade.
Fallout wise, there isn’t much. I expect fallout with any powder eyeshadow but there isn’t an excessive amount at all.
My favourite shade has to be the pink foiled shade as it reflects gold when the light hits it. I also love the mattes, I am really impressed and have to admit they are some of the best matte eyeshadows I have used. I have been using this so much over the past few months. I am amazed at how many different looks you can create with it.
The Coral Obsessions Palette retails for £25.00 which I think is pretty good as it works out approximately £2.70 per eyeshadow. I purchased mine from Cult Beauty and got it for £20.00 on offer.
