Disappointing Beauty Products | EmmyWritesAbout

Don’t you just hate it when you spend money on a product to really not like it? I was recently going through my makeup collection having a de-clutter and came across a few products that disappointed me and will be leaving my makeup collection and I won’t be sad to see them go! I don’t often buy hyped up products unless I have read alot of good reviews but some of these products I purchased because they sounded incredible but unfortunately I found them to be a let down.

Lush Jelly Face Masks | £6.95 |  Link

These masks really intrigued me with being a jelly formula and I didn’t know what to expect. Me and my mum purchased one each. I went for the Just To Clarify Lush Mask and she got the Birth Of Venus one. I was so excited to give them a try but they are the worst masks I have tried. You scoop some out and it is a jelly formula then you have to rub it between your fingers and it becomes a paste. This is so messy as bits go everywhere. When applying to your face it is hard to get an even layer or to spread it properly. I left it on the amount of time advised and I noticed no difference in my skin, it didn’t feel or look any different. I have tried them a few times but I really dislike them.

The Ordinary Coverage Foundation | £5.90 | Link

Everybody started to rave about this foundation saying how incredible the coverage was and it was the best foundation they have tried. For me it is the worst foundation I have ever tried! The coverage is shocking, I got light coverage from this no matter how I applied it or what I applied it with. It made my skin look extremely dry even though my skin is mainly oily. It loos horrendous.

ColourPop No Filter Concealer | $6.00 | Link

I was beyond excited when I heard Colourpop were releasing a full coverage concealer. As soon as it launched I was on the website ready to order. It came, I tried it and I am disappointed. The coverage is perfect but this concealer oxidised so much, I mean 2-3 shades darker and the undertone completely changed. At first I thought it was my powder but then I tried it without powder and noticed it was the concealer. I have the second lightest shade in the right so it isn’t good for pale skin. When reading reviews it seems it is only the lighter shades that oxidise. I do have swatches in my full review here where it shows the difference between first applied and a minute later.

MUA Luxe Light Lustre Highlighter Duo | £5.00 | Link

I saw this one a few peoples blogs saying it was incredible. It arrived and it is very blah. The left shade is cream and the right is a powder. The cream shade is ok not very intense, it blends out into a very subtle highlight. It works ok as a base for another highlighter. The powder shade is quite boring, it doesn’t stand out and the is not much glow.

Kat Von D Contour Kit | £37.00| Link

This one isn’t all bad at all. The only reason I dislike it is because it isn’t good for pale skin. The light shades are too dark for under my eyes and make my under eyes look dull. The banana shade is far too yellow. The contour shades are good shades but again far too dark on my skin tone. They blend well but it is definitely suited for medium skin tones.

PIXI Hydrating Milky Mist | £18.00 | Link

PIXI is a brand I have been wanting to try for the longest time. I picked up the Glow Mud Cleanser and the Hydrating Milky Mist. The mist is supposed to be hydrating but I don’t find it hydrating at all. I find it gives a very light mist then dries down fully within seconds and my skin doesn’t feel hydrated at all. I have mainly oily skin and thought it might have worked well. I do love the glow mud cleanser though!
