I recently did my High End Foundations Collection Plus Comparisons post and I had alot of people asking if I would be doing a drugstore version so I decided I would. I have included most of my drugstore foundations as some I own more than one of and then I have some old ones I don’t really use. I am always on the hunt for that fabulous flawless base that is long lasting, so do these foundations work…
The Full Coverage Base
Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation | £18.00 | Link
I forgot to include this in my high end post but it kind of sits in the middle so thought I would include it in this one as most of the time Escentual have it on offer. I expected this to be thick but it really isn’t. It feels extremely lightweight but gives the most incredible coverage. It even covered up my tattoo when I tested it out. You can see it before and after on my tattoo in my full review. I also find this lasts extremely well on my skin. It reminds me of the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Oil Free Foundation.
NO7 Beautifully Matte Foundation | £14.50 | Link
This one that I always forget I have. It is thicker in consistency than the Vichy one but it gives good coverage. This one is also perfect for oily skin, I wouldn’t recommend it for dry skin.
Seventeen Stay Time Foundation | £6.49 | Link
This is such an underrated foundation. I must be on my fourth bottle of this one. This is 100% full coverage, blends well and it lasts well. It is suitable for dry and oily skin. The shade range isn’t the best and is more suited for pale-light skin tones. It reminds me of MAC Studio Fix.
Bourjois Air Mat Foundation | £9.99 | Link
I can’t believe more people don’t talk about this foundation. It is similar to the NO7 one but I find it blends better. It is full coverage and works best with a brush first then a Beauty Sponge on top to smooth it out. They have now released more shades so it is suitable for pale – dark skin tones.
Medium-Buildable Foundations
Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation (US Version) | $7.99 | Link
This is one of my go to Summer foundations! I really don’t like the UK version but love the US one. The US one keeps me matte better and the shade range is amazing. I order mine from Ebay or Amazon. It is medium coverage that looks flawless, blurs my pores and honestly keeps me matte for 10 plus hours! This is definitely medium coverage. I love how I don’t have to touch up at all during the day.
L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte Foundation (US Version) | $12.99 | Link
Again I hated and I mean hated the UK version but the US version is so much better. I have seen quite a few bloggers say the same. I also order this from Ebay and Amazon for around £10. This makes my skin look flawless, this is one of my most worn foundations. It does a good job at keeping me matte throughout the day too. I never need to touch up with powder.
Maybelline Superstay 24 Hour Foundation | £8.99 | Link
I have fallen in love with this base. It is medium but buildable to full, looks flawless, doesn’t cake at all and lasts well. The shade range isn’t great but I use The Body Shop Lightening Drops and I get my perfect shade. This one is more runny compared to the L’Oreal Infallible. I find this dries to a satin finish.
MaxFactor 3 in 1 Face Finity Foundation | £12.99 | Link
I first tried this years ago and I hated it with a passion. I decided to pick it up again last year and my opinion has totally changed. It is medium coverage that feels lightweight and looks flawless. If I use this with a mattifying primer it keeps me matte all day. This isn’t buildable but it gives a gorgeous medium coverage. This is a satin finish so would work for most skin types.
I wore this last Friday when I went to Alton Towers, I applied my makeup by 7am and I didn’t take it off until 7pm, so I had it on for 12 hours… Let me tell you at 7pm my face looked like it did at 7am, FLAWLESS! I usually find 98% of foundations will start to separate on the outer corners of my nose but this didn’t. I find when I pair it with the Airspun Loose Powder, it creates a force to be reckoned with!
L’Oreal Infallible 24Hour Foundation | £9.99 | Link
This is aimed at normal – dry skin types whereas the Pro Matte is aimed at oily skin. I picked this up as a few months ago my skin suddenly went dry so I tried this. It works well on dry skin but I had to wear a mattifying primer in my oily area’s so it didn’t get shiny. Now my skin is back to oily I don’t use this much at all. It is medium coverage, I don’t find you can get full coverage like the pro matte.
Garnier BB Cream | £9.99 | Link
This stuff is incredible. I used it most of last Summer and will be using it again. This provides light to medium coverage, I was surprised how much coverage it gave for a BB Cream. This also keeps me matte all day in the Summer. It is lightweight and has quite a runny consistency. They also do a dry skin version too.
