Makeup Revolution Conceal And Define Concealer C1 & C3 | EmmyWritesAbout

One of the most talked about products of the year so far? The Makeup Revolution Conceal and Define Concealers launched earlier this year and instantly everyone was comparing it to the Tarte Tape Shape Concealer. A product can’t be called a dupe just because it looks the same as a higher end product, it has to work just a good and realistically the ingredients are completely different BUT forgetting about Tape Shape does this new £4 concealer live up to the hype?

I haven’t purchased anything from Makeup Revolution for a long time, I found some of the products were loosing the quality that they used to produce and it felt like they were releasing products just for the sake of releasing them. That being said they are now releasing so many incredible palettes and also have a Foundation Stick to be released. The Conceal and Define concealers caught my because they were described as being full coverage and have an incredible 18 shades! Many brands have been under fire recently especially Tarte for not releasing a wide range of shades. Makeup revolution have definitely made a shade for everyone in this range.

The packaging is simple and a little chunky. It has rose gold detailing and then a large doe-foot applicator. I really like the applicator as you get enough product on it for under your eye instead of like most concealers you need to keep dipping back in to get enough product.

I chose the shades C1, which is the lightest shade and C3 which is the third lightest. I am so happy as both work perfectly for me. C1 works when I have no makeup on and just want to spot conceal but it also works to help brighten under my eyes when I have foundation on. C1 is more neutral toned. C3 I picked up as C2 was too yellow toned for my skin tone. C3 has a pink undertone which is perfect for me. My skintone is more pink toned which I always go for in foundations and I find pink tones under my eyes really counteract the darkness.

The formula is thicker but more liquid like. The coverage is really good and covers my dark circles well. I find it blends in well and it does dry down quickly. I find I have enough time to work with it and blend it in before it does fully dry down. Setting wise I find this best to set with a brush. I have tried baking but it makes it look extremely dry. I do suffer with creases under my eyes and baking doesn’t always work for me. I think because this is a thicker consistency baking with it makes it look to dry. I apply a small amount of powder with a brush and pat it into my skin and it looks flawless.

If you apply too much of this concealer it will look cakey. The first time I applied too much and it looked very heavy and dry. The second time I applied much less and found it looked flawless.

Now moving onto the Tarte Tape Shape claims, I used to own Tape Shape but I actually sold it after using it a few times. It looked extremely dry under my eyes no matter what I tried and I really can’t understand the hype. Maybe because I suffer with creases under my eyes it just didn’t work for me. I find the Makeup Revolution one works so much better for me.

I think this concealer is amazing for £4 and will definitely be repurchasing it. If you do try this concealer remember to apply a little amount rather than packing it on. You can buy it from the Tam Beauty Website or Superdrug.
